Frustrating for PreK, Challenging for Kinder

July 20, 2024 - By Hannah Dohertyfrom Oceano, CA

I would say that this set is more appropriate for 1st and 2nd grade. Some of my kinders were very engaged with the basic models, but none were able to do the complex builds independently. That being said, it's a very well constructed set and the cards are invaluable as starting points. I'd buy it again, with the understanding that I'd be playing alongside my students.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Pure joy , when kids get to see the movement and things happening because they set it up.

I like this kit, but it only comes with one goal piece. There are 10 different tracks we can make, but they all use a goal at the end. I wish it had come with enough goals to make it truly a class set as it says on the box.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Trial and Error

November 28, 2022 - By Elizabeth Fuchser

Good for learning cause and effect. A little frustrating for some of the littles, but helps them work on trial and error and trying again.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Good idea...needs some enhancements

July 30, 2022 - By Amaya Lambertfrom Falls Church, VA

I was happy with the quality of the construction of the components and the ease of assembling things. The instructions really emphasize trial and error and I believe that's because some of the tracks that are included have areas that don't align with the laws of physics (e.g., the red ball would be too light to push the next component unless it has more forward momentum from a higher starting place). I basically scrapped the included cards and made my own. I also wish that the components could be purchased separately since 5 pendulums are included, but only 4 hammers. I would also buy additional goal boxes so that more than 1 student or group of students could work on a chain reaction at a time.

Great toy! My 5 year old grandson loves it!

February 25, 2022 - By Diannafrom Pennsylvania

Our five year old grandson loves this! He can do several of the cards on his own. Just needs a little help with the harder ones. I love how it makes him think!

Fun to start creating ideas

December 31, 2018 - By Mariefrom Hawaii

I loved the concept for my grandchildren but my 4 year old wanted to just build a tower and fort. Let her and will do chain reactions another day. I had taken only a few pieces out to build the first and second reactions. My 7 year old said it was boring until she got the hang of it.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

What a challenge

September 02, 2016 - By TroutLfrom Lancaster, PA

I am so excited to use this kit in the classroom with our 1st grade students. We do a Balance and Motion unit and needed to insert some more engineering lessons in our plan. My daughter and I tried out this set over the summer and it was a HOOT! The instruction cards are very clear, and yet there is just enough allowance in the pieces to provide a challenge. It doesn't always work (just like real life mechanical things), so there is some trial and error. But then when you get it to work - huge celebration! Just the right amount of challenge.

Yes, I would recommend this product.
