These are great!

They all seem to work, and they are of a nice size for the kids. The others I looked at were way too small.

Good for the price

I bought these to teach a first-grader about magnetism. It's good to have a lot of them, to show the magnetic field directions. Also, if you put them all together, they attract each other and self-align to show how magnetic domains organize. There may be different ways a group of them can co-align and be stable, and this illustrates other fun principles. So, it's great to have a lot of cheap compasses at one time. That said, seven out of the twelve were painted with red being North, and five were with red being South. If these were for teaching orientation on a map, you'd have to caution about that. Overall pretty useful for the price.

Great... when they work

These were delivered quickly and at first they seemed like just what I wanted. Only 2/3 of them pointed north, and the rest pointed south or just somewhere else. Had to buy two packs to get enough that worked.

great little compasses!

These are a terrific set of student compasses. Can use when introducing units on maps, rotation/revolution and Earth flat or round. They hold up and students love them
