My grandson will be 8 in July and absolutely flipped over this spy kit. Right now his favorite parts are the review glasses and the 7 in 1 gadget. He is learning the Morse code and tried making a secret message with disappearing ink! He told me that he thinks Lakeshore makes some of the best toys.

Unique gift
A little overpriced, but it’s a unique item. Haven’t seen a kit just like this and this was asked for by my 7 year old. Daughter 5 and 7 love it and get a lot of use out of it.
Poorly made
This is very cheaply made. I bought it 40% off and feel I still significantly overpaid. The kit is worth pennies to make, and should sell for $10-$15 max. The box is large, but more than half of the box are plastic filler air bubbles, even though nothing in the kit is breakable. And the few items that are inside have yet more packaging. I bought it as a gift and when the kid opened it, it looked like I paid no more than $10 instead of the $35. At $50 price tag, this is an absolute rip off.

Some cool stuff
My 8 year old was begging me for this kit. And it's pretty good. He loves the see-behind-you glasses most, but the Morse code stuff left a bit to be desired (he thought there should be more to it, or something he just couldn't figure out, but they're really just paper flashers). For the retail price I'd expect a bit more wow factor, and I'm glad I got it at a steep sale price.
