This fun-filled center lets kids use their eyes and fingers to investigate the scientific properties of more than 20 fascinating specimens—from rocks and shells to feathers and pinecones! Children just sort the specimens onto the big mats we’ve included—building observation and classification skills as they touch, examine and explore each object! Center includes a total of 23 specimens, 8 sorting mats and a guide—all in a sturdy storage box. Mats measure 8" x 10".

The preK students are immediately drawn towards the different specimens and spent up to 30 min sorting them in various ways. When other teachers in the building saw the sorting center (and learned I wouldn't let them borrow it), they went and bought their own!
Yes, I would recommend this product.

Great hands on for science and sorting!

I love this set. What I like the most is the category sorting they chose on the cards. It is really great for kids to explore science concepts and sorting by category. My daughter on the autism spectrum disorder has a hard time with sorting and category and she loved to manipulate the specimens, and to express with words what she felt with her hands. Great to help labeling skills with kids on the ASD with expressive language impairement.
