Solar System Fact Finder

I purchased this to enhance our solar system unit. It was helpful to have a model where I could adequately show students how planets both rotate and revolve. I also was able to successfully use this to teach students the order of the planets from the sun, the approximate size of the planets, and reinforce some other basic concepts. I did not find the quiz and teaching function of this product easy to use. The volume was not very loud so I could not use it in a whole class setting. Students found these features difficult to use as well.

Fun Quiz Feature
My kids really enjoy this product. I purchased it to supplement an astronomy unit. The quiz feature is excellent for reviewing facts. It isn't the most sturdy model I've seen, I'm not sure how it would hold up in a traditional classroom.

Perfect for the young scientist
This is the second Solar System Fact Finder I have purchased. My granddaughter saw the display at my grandniece's house & was so enamored by it that I had to order one for her also. This item was displayed in my grandniece's classroom until the end of the school year. The whole class enjoyed answering the questions & learning about the solar system.
A guide book for children would be helpful
I got this twice for my grandsons. First one for my home and then one for theirs. My older grandson is autistic. He is unusually smart and enjoys it. The younger one is a visual learner, and a typical for his age. He is lost using this without a guide designed for kids. I work with him, but it's frustrating him.

thought it would be educational
The catalog states the toy is a 3D model that really moves - it only moves if you move it by hand. The planets don't revolve around the sun as I expected them to. You can push a button and hear about the different planets but if your child isn't reading they won't know what planet is being talked about. The voice that narrates is in a monotone so even that isn't exciting. I wish I had read the other review before buying. I can think of better ways to spend $40.00

Poor value for money
For 40 dollars what you get is a non-moving solar system. There are 8 planets. Lets see what happens when you press the button for the planet, Uranus: You hear some information but that information is not going to be of any use if the $40 model does not tell/indicate you which one of those 8 planets is Uranus. So, it does not make any impact on the kid. I was expecting that the planets would be moving around the sun; each of the planets would have some indicator that will glow when you press a button for a planet. In summary, poor value for money.
