Exciting way to teach adding and money

After years of teaching preschool, elementary school, and adult English as a Second Language, I know how difficult it is to teach money used in the US. When we realized that our five-year-old grandson could not add numbers (math is not his strength) and had little experience with physical money, we bought this game, hoping it would kill two birds with one stone. We were NOT disappointed! When we started the game, our grandson did not know the names of the coins nor their values. After one hour of playing this game, he easily used the names (except for nickel) and exchanged five pennies for a nickel, two dimes and a nickel for a quarter, etc. I was surprised. After one game, he asked if we could play again but use REAL money and the winner keeps the dollar! We gladly agreed. His excitement level was high! Fast forward two days when we played this game again. This time, he started realizing that if he spun a 7, it was easier to take 1 nickel and 2 pennies (than to count out 7 pennies and then exchange 5 of them for a nickel). After an hour, he realized that if he already had 2 pennies on his card and he spun a 3, he could put his 2 pennies back in the bank and take out a nickel. He realized that 9 was a nickel and 4 pennies (without having to count them out). And after asking a few dozen times how much money he had on his card (and hearing us count it out), he could figure it out for himself (with a little help). And he definitely knew that 4 quarters made a dollar! I was astonished. I have used manipulatives in the classroom (and at home with my son and my grandson) many times, but I have never seen any that impacted a child so quickly. Something clicked in his brain. This is a real game changer for him. Thanks to the team that designed this game and provided coins that have realistic images and are the size of real coins (so we can play with real money). Well done!

My Son's Favorite Game

This game is now an absolute favorite that we play sometimes multiple times a day! My son is autistic and I could not get money to click until this game. It is great practice, and I love the realistic coins. It is actually the first game that he has enjoyed, and he has asked for more games since this one! Thank you.

Fun Game!

This game is fun to play with the grandkids. You can take it along anywhere and they learn the value of the coins to make a dollar as the play.

Money smart

We like this game because it allows the child to learn about money in a fun way. Counting coins is difficult to learn and in a store can be overwhelming with a long line and pressure to count correctly. So, this is a fun way to give our children space to learn the value of coins and count them on their time frame without pressure. It's a fun game and we like to spend a few mins. playing to practice coin counting and how coins add up. Great gift idea and it's a cute box that doesn't take up much space.
