I specifically bought this item because of Grandson's expressed interest in working keys, inserting real keys into key holes, even having fun and being curious using the keys on screws that surrounded a door handle and dead bolt. Without taking away his curiosity, this product provided an age appropriate tool to learn cause and effect of a useful item that he will need to know how to use in his future, additionally learning that each key have had a specific function. I think this product provided atangible opportunity to introduce curiosity, discovery and problem solving. It give them an opportunity to use and strengthen fine and gross motor skills, nourish creativity and we found it engaged him in independent play .This product can be in so many different ways, but let's take two examples of toy and a hand on educational resource; start with a selection of a small amount of locks for them to discover and explore, a parent led activity to help build on prior knowledge with fine motor skills, modeling and assisting them how and where to first insert the key into the key hole, next teaching them what happen when they turn the key. We enjoyed seeing the excitement of something new. The older kids had so much fun engaging and helping the toddler. I enjoy helping him learn and teaching number recognition and matching it to the number value, as well as showing him how the letters use to form words, giving him all three of the ways we can express an idea and three different forms of communication so he can succeed. This was a strong plus to purchasing this product. Bringing out a few of these items at a time worked great in keeping my grandaon's attention and led to to greater success for and fun. He now has his own key chain just for those locks.

Great activity for learning math facts. My granddaughter gets it out frequently. Perfect for 4-7 year olds.
