For spelling bee practice

May 11, 2025 - By CKfrom CA

I bought one more set. The base is long enough to fit a long word. It may be useful practicing the words for the spelling bee kinesthetically.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Good for learning phonics

May 10, 2025 - By CHRISTINE KIMfrom Calif

I have 3 years old granddaughter. I will use it to teach her the phonic. It is nice that it clicks and you can just change one consonant in the word to teach the phonics. It will be good to get one more set.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Missing letters

January 31, 2023 - By V

I bought 2 sets so I can have enough for a station of 6-8 kids. Once opened the pack I realized that it’s missing letters. They need to realize as teachers we try to make it fair and have all students the same number of letter tiles. If we have missing letters there needs to be a way for us to get the missing letters if we want. Also maybe have extra letters that we can buy more of if the kids lose them. Aside from that, these tiles are noisy so it’s best to do them as carpet station. For over $80 not including tax and shipping I spent to have half a station is not worth it.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Great idea, not enough tiles for all

January 23, 2023 - By Wfrom CA

Loved this idea but should have read the reviews. There are not enough letters for each of the blocks. For example, there are only two 'h' blocks. So only two students can work on 'sh', 'ch', 'th' at a time, or do partner work. Bummed you can't buy extra letters either. If you're okay doing two students at a time or partners, or don't need all of the letters, these are a great high engagement activity. Just limiting in how they can be used.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Hands on Learning

December 06, 2022 - By Kristin Guitarfrom Ionia, MI

Very disappointed. Why, would you not include a whole alphabet for each platform. I went to use this with a small group and wasted a ton of time determining that I can only use with pairs instead of each student getting their own set. I even bought two sets. I am very disappointed. I would return them if we had not already opened the both sets. Will think twice about buying Lakeshore items in the future. Additionally you cannot buy extra blocks to fill in what is missing.

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Perfect for kindergarten

November 03, 2021 - By Alexis Fabianfrom Petaluma, CA

I got these for my kindergartener and he uses them to practice sight words, letter sounds, differentiating vowels from consonants, and imaginary play. I love that it exposes him to letters and words AND is still super fun and hands on. Helps with his fine motor skills too, which helps with handwriting. Wins all around :)

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Good for hands on learning

November 11, 2019 - By Brooke Hellmannfrom Arlington, TX

I really like this Product and so do my students. My only concern is that there arent enough blocks for more than 2 kids to be building the same word which makes it hard to use in small groups and stations

Yes, I would recommend this product.

Great tool, but...

September 20, 2019 - By Mr. Cfrom CA

My K students love working with the word building blocks, as do I. However, I wish I could purchase individual letters for those that are lost or need more of.

Yes, I would recommend this product.
