This game is great for children who are reluctant to do school. The shooting out of letters is enough mayhem that they are distracted that it is school. I wish that the launcher worked a little better, you really have to whack it to get it to fly out. My older son is able to power launch them though. Be sure to do it on a surface where the discs can fly to be more fun.

Highly recommend! My 2.5 year old has been showing an interest in learning to read but i am not a teacher and did not know where to start. This was recommended to me and it is great. She finds the game really fun and it teaches the sounds of the letters to form building blocks of reading. The game is self explanatory so I don't have to stress about becoming a teacher myself. Ideal!

This game makes a really great center to send students to when working with small groups.

I wanted to love this product, but it does not hold up to my expectations. I honestly expected a better quality coming from Lakeshore. The idea behind the game is great, perfect for learning beginning sounds. I love how it's divided into two groups of beginning sounds. Would have loved if they included a third group (ch, sh, th, etc.) The launching device is awful. Very frustrating to my preschooler as it rarely shoots out a disc despite me loading it properly and carefully each time. We just place the chips in a blind bag and play that way. Not as fun, and it makes me think I could've made this game myself this way. I bought it because I thought the launching device would hold my preschooler's interest more than say a blind bag. I do not recommend this product--I would save $$ and make your own with heavy duty cardstock and craft wooden discs you can find on Amazon.

My 2 year old and I love this game! He was a wild child today and I took this game out to get him to sit for a little bit. We played it for the entire hour! He loves it! Very engaging and educational! Also, seems very sturdy and well made.
