My kinders in RTI loved this sorting activity!

As stated in previous reviews, this is an excellent product for consonant sounds. It would be helpful to provide more magnetic boards to use in small group. I have divided the game into bags of 3 sounds to us in a small group and keep a picture of the correct groupings to make the game self-checking . (The children can't get the self-check card until they have made their columns first the game first.) Additionally, I have the anchor letters to put under the anchor pictures.

My student's love the game. We play it like a matching game, mystery bag and a few other ways. they have asked to play the game on more than one occasion.

I love the sorting mat and the beginning sound magnets. However, there is only one mat. I have a low small group of 2 and I could use an extra mat. Also, there are no magnets for the vowels. Why were those left out?? That wasn't stated on the product that it was only consonant beginning sounds. It's a good product in theory, but lacking. I don't really think it's worth $30.

This purchase was the turning point for my son learning phonics. The alphabet locks got him to recognize upper and lower case letters and now he's actually interested in the sounds. My 3 and 5 year old have so much fun they don't realize they're learning. I take this one step further and put a magnetic letter that matches the beginning sounds at the top of each column. It's helped tie the letter and sound recognition together. I like that they have the list of tiles in the instructions to clarify that they intend for tiles like a beehive to only be considered a hive for the purpose of the game.

Excellent product for working with Kindergarten children.
