Disappointing

I was expecting this to be a bilingual, engaging story since the instructions come in English and Spanish, but the book is in English only. Also, while the pictures in both the book and the board are bright and beautiful, the text is limited and pedestrian. The story is about 7-8 pages (one simple sentence per page) with no plot. It basically describes the ant going up the apple hill, crossing the bread bridge, going around the cake mountain, through the broccoli forest, past the lemonade lake to meet up with friends for lunch. Nothing else. No elaboration, no perils during the journey to make the story exciting. The only point made was to mention 4 transition words, and to use 4 prepositions: across, around, through and ... (I do not have the book with me, and cant remember the last one). This story is not interesting, lacks imagination, and elements such as catchy phrases, comic relief, or repetition to engage young readers. It is certainly not worth the price tag. The story needs to be developed, and made bilingual.
