These math folder games are fantastic for reinforcing past concepts that we've previously gone over in our lessons. Sometimes my child just needs to take a break from traditional desk work. It is times like this that we enjoy doing something a little more hands-on. This set of games definitely hits the mark! There are activities that include number recognition, patterns, sorting, calendars, addition, subtraction, measurement, money, and a bunch more. The best part is they all offer a fun way of learning and practicing math! The entire set is pretty much open and goes with the exception of having to tear a few perforated lines to separate the game pieces. I love that everything fits neatly in the original box, which is very reminiscent of a file folder box, complete with a self-latching top. Games are easy to locate and pull out from the bunch, thanks to the already labeled folder tabs. It's like a special game filing system all in a handy storage box! There is also a small resource guide in the box, which includes several additional desk activities to go along with the set.

Most children with Autism need some sort of visual aid, I have been working ever since my son started 1st grade to find things that will help him grasp the concept of Math. I bought this set because I knew he already knew this concept so it wouldn't be too hard. It is definitely not a game, but more of an activity. It is perfect for getting a visual based learner engaged. My son has real issues with his fine motor skills so doing an actual worksheet can be very tough for him, I am now implementing this during table time. The one *Con* I would say this product has? Is that it's very similar to the Math computer game, it has 3 of the same activities. We had already purchased the computer version, and my son has mastered that, so I was slightly disappointed to see that 3 of the "games" in this folder directly correlated with the computer version. However- that will not stop me from ordering nearly every one of these folders in every subject here on out!

These file folder "games" are really just activities, but they're still fun. Most of the games rely on simply counting sets, not adding numbers. They are easy enough for any child that can count, but introduces the symbols/concepts of addition and subtraction with enough variety and repetition to memorize the math facts without drill. I especially like the games that work with the numbers as groups (still with pictures), which rely on counting a little less and encourage the child to think in sets, i.e. 4 and 2, not counting 1-2-3-4, 5-6. I think all of the games have their place though and are worthwhile. It's easy for kids to pick out a game and see right away what they're supposed to do, no explanation required for the most part.
