Great for problem solving and dexterity

January 03, 2018 - By GrNny from Gettysburg PA

This was a huge hit with my almost three year old grandson. The pieces were easy to manipulate and fit together in multiple ways. Two hammers mean that his 14mo old sister could join in and the wrench was easy to use too. Thinking of buying a second set for even bigger constructions.

Very Challenging to Build Symmetrical Structures

April 14, 2015 - By Kristen7 from California

I love everything about Big Bolt Construction except for the fact that it is difficult to build symmetrical structures. The many of the pieces have odd numbers of holes and because of the shape of the pieces being rounded at the ends it is not possible to put pieces together end to end when building. They are great for fine motor development and creativity. My students love them, they just build without using symmetry. I am often frustrated building with them.

Best toy in our house

June 09, 2014 - By SanDiegoMama from San Diego, CA

This is hands down the best toy we have ever given our children. We bought the master set for my 3yo son's birthday. Six months later it is still his go-to toy everyday. He uses his imagination and gets so much pleasure from seeing what he creates. The pieces are easy enough for 3yo hands to manipulate without adult intervention. We also have a 5yo son and the boys can play and create together. With so many battery operated toys and screen entertainment available to attract kids, this toy is such a pleasant change and exceeds my expectations for a great quiet time activity. There are ample pieces for two children to explore without running out of parts. I don't write many reviews, but I read them to help me make my purchases. This toy was worth the effort of a review!

Entertains for hours!

December 27, 2012 - By MichelleR from Bonney Lake, WA

My 4 1/2 year old twin boys each got one of the 100 piece sets for Christmas and they have been playing with them constantly! These are the first toys they go to each morning. My sons are having a wonderful time building their own creations and using their imaginations. I can't say enough how pleased we have been with these so far!

Great tool for working together

February 24, 2012 - By Sonny from Oklahoma

My students, especially the boys really enjoy working with this block set. The blocks are very sturdy and stand up to wear and tear. It would be nice to have a few more tools to go with the blocks, so that more students could use them at once. They can be somewhat difficult to take apart, but most of my students have been able to do so with little assistance. Overall, my students really enjoy building with these blocks and I have been very pleased with the product.

My students enjoy the Big Bolt Construction Set, but there isn't enough tools included for groups of children to enjoy this set together. Also children usually need a hand to take apart their projects.

Pretty Good

December 14, 2011 - By PreschoolTeacher from Colorado Springs, CO

My only complaint is that is does not come with more tools in the starter set. There are lots of pieces, so more children could use it at one time if it came with more tools.

Okay overall

December 08, 2011 - By RootsandWings from Bentonville, AR

We received these as a "prize" in a class we took on manipulatives and motor skills. The children seem to like them, and some children can be very creative (but some seem to be stuck on cars, since there are wheels). I'd like them better if they were wooden instead of plastic. They are durable and easy to fit together, but lots of kids ask for a screwdriver (not included).

We've had this for 2 years now and it's still in great condition. My five year old loves it and I plan to pass it down to his brother in a few years.

All ages love these

November 28, 2010 - By Provider from Lincoln, Ca.

I have been in day care for 14 years and I have bought two of these classroom sets. I have children of all ages and it keeps them busy for hours. This is the first thing they grab to play with. The things they invent up is limitless. Guitars, robots, the list goes on and on i love them. I highly recommend it.
