Defys Stereotypes

I use this story before an activity around the winter holidays when I can collect toy catalogs in the mail. We have kids work in groups cutting out pictures and making posters with toys for girls or boys or both. The groups have a discussion about stereotypes and how they want to choose to display their toy list. It's always so great to see when they get it!

I love this book so much! Monica Brown is one of my favorite bilingual authors. Many of my students relate to the main character.
