My 4.5 year old received this as gift and has loved it! She asks for it everyday and it has provided hours of entertainment. At first, she needed me to peel off the stickers for her, but now she can mostly do it independently. The box says 5+. I would say younger children can definitely enjoy this. Where the age comes in, is the strategy of color placement. There's no black outlines on the finished product, so you have to be careful not to make adjacent sections the same color. My daughter has figured that out, but likes to do different colors for everything so the finished image isn't that clear (i.e. both ears should be the same color, the legs the same color, etc. so the image stands out). This does not take away from my daughter's enjoyment. She's having a blast and loving the (somewhat abstract) outcome. I'm buying two to give as gifts.

from Dalton, PAI bought this craft for my daughter to learn how colors can create a beautiful picture versus using only one color to create art. This activity was perfect! She loved peeling parts of the picture, using the sand and then moving onto another area with a different color. This activity is relatively clean as we did the project in a test to contain the extra sand. Once the picture is done, she was able to frame her photo and hang it up! I love this project and she did as well!

This is my 2nd time purchasing this item. It was perfect the first time and my daughter, nieces, their friends and I loved it! The only issue was the yellow sand container was messed up and it was hard to get the sand out which was not a big deal. The second time almost all of the stickers did not peel correctly and instead peeled to the bottom ruining the picture/activity. My daughter loves this activity so I am hopeful this issue is fixed by the time I purchase it again or it is a waste of money.

from Montgomery, TXComes with a good variety of colours and pictures. My child is enjoying it. Not deal breakers, but annoying: -sand is not glittery as shown and stated -black outlines come off with the sticker, so the final product is not as advertised. What will stop me from buying again - it comes with 12 thick, plastic picture frames - so wasteful and unnecessary.

This was a great kit! Having the sand in tubes made it easy for a 4 year old to manage and the brush worked great to spread the sand. The frames were a very nice touch-they really add something, making it feel like a special piece of art to be displayed! We used a large tray underneath and a folder to catch extra sand and place into ziplocs for reuse. Highly recommend! Easy and fun and will provide many more days of entertainment!

Peel and stick works great. Good variety of colors. I bought this so my 4 year old could do less messy rangoli activity for Diwali. One star removed for the set of 12 cheap, plastic frames included in the package. Unnecessary use of plastic and probably inflated the price (and size) of the box.

This is definitely a fun art activity. Something different than the normal paint and color. My boys are 7 and 3. The first picture we did outside and definitely had sand mess. The second attempt we tried a more controlled environment, inside at their desk. Both enjoy the bigger pictures because it leaves more room to sweep their brush around each body part (you peel a covering to reveal a sticky page for each intricate body part. Nostril, toe, eye, inner ear, hoof. spot head, leg, etc.) It has the opportunity for very detailed work or you can simply peel the entire paper of in one swoop and use one sand color for each picture. For a 3 year-old it is a little difficult but if you don't care about the end result, the brush getting ruined and sand everywhere then it will be fine .My 7 year-old likes to take his time, he got the hang of distributing the sand and has created very lovely pics! Like everything out of Lakeshore I have used, the product is quality! The frames are durable, stands and picture clasps are included along with sand colors and 2 brushes. Everyone is receiving sand art pictures during COVID!

My five-year-olds love this and have asked to do it several times since they got it for their birthday. The accompanying frames are cute too. We have hung several on their wall in their bedroom.
