Lakeshore Signs the American Business Act on Climate Pledge
In the summer of 2015, the White House launched the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26%-28% by 2025, and it calls on businesses across the country to help. Lakeshore believes that individual companies can help create a sustainable future by investing in clean energy and conserving our resources today. That’s why we have signed the pledge, and we have begun taking action to make a difference!
Lakeshore has pledged to invest $1 million in solar panels that will be installed by 2018—producing an estimated 4,500 megawatts of renewable energy and avoiding 3,600 tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. We have also begun installing motion-activated restroom fixtures at our headquarters building, reducing our water use by 42,000 tons and conserving 68 tons of paper over the next ten years. In addition, Lakeshore will continue conserving energy and resources through our active recycling program, and by investing in green projects similar to those we have launched in the past several years—from the installation of electric vehicle charging stations to the creation of a complete line of low-emission, environmentally friendly furniture.
