Lakeshore In the Community

A Group Effort for a Great Group of Kids
Windsor, Colorado

Tornado Video ThumbJust before noon on May 22, several tornadoes ripped through northern Colorado. The Windmill Child Enrichment Center in Windsor was hit particularly hard, losing a large part of its roof and thousands of dollars in materials. Thankfully, through the quick thinking and action of teachers, none of the children and staff present were injured.

When local Coloradan and Lakeshore representative Scott Burns heard about the scale of the damage, he was determined to help put Windmill Child Enrichment Center back on its feet. With the assistance of Colorado Human Services, USF Reddaway, and a number of concerned Lakeshore coworkers in Colorado and California, Scott engineered the delivery of $15,000 worth of new materials to the child care center. When asked about the effort involved, Scott said, “It was worth everything just to see the kids smiling again.”
