Lakeshore® Breaks New Ground with Educational Software for Preschool-Age Children
New Teacher-Developed Software for Interactive Whiteboards and Computers Helps Early Learners Master Key Concepts in Math, Language and Science
CARSON, Calif.—(February 1, 2012)—Lakeshore Learning Materials, a longtime industry leader and innovator of educational products, today announced a series of fun and affordable software titles for children ages 3–5. Ideal for use in classrooms and homes, Lakeshore’s early childhood software features a simple, intuitive and engaging design geared specifically for the developmental level of very young learners.
Covering a wide spectrum of topics, from identifying letters and matching sounds to recognizing patterns and learning to sort, the new software provides a wealth of interactive activities that help children grasp essential concepts and skills—while still having fun.
“One of the titles I’m most excited about is Numbers & Counting Adventures,” said Eric Chyo, Director of Educational Software Development at Lakeshore. “It helps children build number sense and counting skills through action-packed activities, kid-pleasing animation and cool sound effects.”
Each title was evaluated extensively in focus groups, allowing Lakeshore’s product developers to fine-tune the design elements needed to support a variety of learning styles and developmental levels. In addition to including simple spoken directions and verbal reinforcement, each title utilizes eye-catching graphics for visual-based learning plus an easy-to-use interface that’s appropriate for very young children who are still developing their fine motor skills.
In addition to early learning software, Lakeshore is set to expand its successful line of titles for elementary-age children, bringing its total software library to over 100 titles. “We received a great response from teachers and parents across the country, and we’re extremely excited to continue to expand our educational software library to help kids master the skills they need for success—both now and in the future,” said Bo Kaplan, President and CEO of Lakeshore.
Distinguished by its affordability, ease of use and robust standards-based content, Lakeshore’s educational software is available online and in 55 retail locations.
