Lakeshore® Hosts a Science Fair
CARSON, Calif.—(January 22, 2011)—It was one amazing day in our stores: Volcanoes erupted, young scientists grew amazing crystals—we even predicted the weather! It was all part of our free Science Fair, a special day of exploration and discovery!
Every Saturday, Lakeshore invites children, parents and teachers into our stores to take part in free activities. This event was especially exciting because children were able to participate in real experiments—and discover the wonders of science firsthand. It was an enlightening experience for everyone who attended.
At our East Cobb store in Georgia, children were also treated to a special musical performance from Professor Boggs! As a science teacher and a musician, Professor Boggs has a unique gift—he can teach children about science through songs and movement. On Saturday, he had the store rockin’ with songs that explored gravity, the scientific method, cell structure and more. His humor, knowledge and electric personality made him the perfect addition to our Science Fair! You can learn more about Professor Boggs at www.professorboggs.com.
Children at our Laguna Hills store in California also had a very special guest stop by—highly acclaimed author Rozanne Williams! A former teacher, Williams has written nearly 200 books that help children build reading and writing skills. On Saturday, she captivated her audience once again as she read several of her works, including Creepy, Crawly Bugs, Pirates Coming Through! and The Teacher with the Alligator Purse. You can find several of Williams’s books in our stores and on our website. To learn more about Williams, go to www.magicbookgarden.com.
If you missed out on the fun, don’t worry! You can join us every Saturday for free crafts for kids from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. For updates on special events and performances in your area, visit our store section online.
