New “Nature Explore Classroom” Comes to Lakeshore
Carson, California - November 2008

Connecting children to nature has powerful educational, developmental and behavioral benefits—such as developing observation and problem solving skills, nurturing a concern for the environment, and fighting the effects of childhood obesity through physical activity. One of Lakeshore’s most exciting projects in a long time is the construction of an outdoor Nature Explore Classroom at Kids & Company, our on-site preschool for employees’ children.

Giving Back to the Gulf Coast Child Care Community

On June 7, Lakeshore, along with Exchange magazine, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, and Teaching Strategies, sponsored a day of “Replenishing, Rebuilding & Rejuvenating” on the grounds of Delgado Community College. A Group Effort for a Great Group of Kids

Tornado Video ThumbJust before noon on May 22, several tornadoes ripped through northern Colorado. The Windmill Child Enrichment Center in Windsor was hit particularly hard, losing a large part of its roof and thousands of dollars in materials. Thankfully, through the quick thinking and action of teachers, none of the children and staff present were injured. click here for more

Serving Southland Kids Displaced by Wildfires
San Diego/San Bernardino, California - October 2007

As wildfires erupted all over the Southland from Santa Barbara County to the Mexican border, thousands were forced to evacuate quickly. A San Diego public schools representative soon contacted Lakeshore. We were told that 15,000 students had already been displaced and had to spend the night in Qualcomm Stadium, one of the evacuation centers. We sprang into action, calling the head of the San Diego Teachers Union to find out what was needed and where to send it. click here for more

Hurricane Katrina wreaked unimaginable devastation on the Gulf Coast—and turned thousands of families into evacuees overnight.
