Rainy Day Umbrellas

Add a touch of sparkle to your classroom—with handmade artwork students will love to display!
This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 1st grade / 3 - 6 years
You will need:
- Paper muffin cups in various colors
- Puffy Pipe Stems
- Glitter Pack - Set of 12 (blue or silver)
- Help-Yourself Glue Tubes
- Cotton balls
- Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (blue)
Directions
- Provide each student with a sheet of blue construction paper.
- Encourage students to spread glue across the top of the construction paper and stretch out cotton balls to make clouds.
- Give each student three paper muffin cups. Prompt students to cut or fold the cups in half to make umbrella tops and glue them to the construction paper background.
- Have students curve the ends of three pipe stems and attach them beneath the umbrellas to make the handles.
- Finally, encourage students to dab several dots of glue between the clouds and umbrellas; then help them sprinkle glitter onto the page to create raindrops.
- Display the finished artwork on a bulletin board titled “April Showers Bring May Flowers!”
