This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 3rd grade / 3 - 8 years
You will need:
- “Then and Now” Picture Frame template
- Peel & Stick Collage Frames - Set of 30
- Best-Buy Crayons
- Help-Yourself Glue Tubes
- Superbright Sulphite Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (white)
- Wallet-sized yearbook photo of each child (or other photo from fall semester)
- Current photo of each child (wallet-sized or standard snapshot that can be trimmed to fit)
- Safety Scissors
Directions
- Before you begin, pop out the foam shapes from the center of the Peel & Stick Collage Frames. Mix up the shapes so that students can use decorative pieces in a variety of colors.
- Provide each student with a Peel & Stick Collage Frame and a copy of the “Then and Now” Picture Frame template reproduced onto white construction paper. Have students cut out the label and the picture frame backing.
- Prompt students to color the label with crayons and glue it to the frame. (The frame should be displayed horizontally so that the longer sides are on top and bottom.)
- Encourage students to stick the colorful shapes onto their frames to decorate as desired.
- Help each student glue the two photos side by side onto the picture frame backing, then attach the frame. Prompt students to write the date for each photo in the space provided on the label.
- Invite students to take home their frames as an end-of-the-year keepsake!
