Summer Sun Hat

Celebrate reading under the sun with these easy-to-make visors!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 4th grade / 5 - 9 years
You will need:
- Design-Your-Own Visors - Set of 15 (or sun visor template, posterboard, scissors, hole punch and yarn)
- Easy-Stick Glitter Shapes
- Washable Broad-Tip Markers - Class Pack
- Pom-Poms
- Peel & Stick Jewels
- Help-Yourself Glue Tubes
Directions
- Give each student a foam visor. (Or print a sun visor template and trace it onto posterboard. Have each student cut out one visor. Help students punch a hole on each side and attach a length of yarn that fits around their head.)
- Provide students with craft materials and markers to decorate their visors.
- Encourage students to write slogans on their hats, such as: “Super Summer Reader,” “Read and Relax,” “Summer Reading Rocks” or “SUNsational Summer Reader!”
- When students are done, invite them to put on the visors. Then take students outside to read a good book!
