This simple scrapbook will turn every student’s summer fun into a treasured keepsake!

This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 4th grade / 3 - 9 years

You will need:

Two-pocket folder for each student (any color)
(Follow these simple instructions to make pocket folders out of construction paper)
Scrapbook Title template
Lakeshore Standard Crayon Packs or Broad-Tip Markers - Class Pack
Lakeshore Glue Sticks
Students’ summer photos and memorabilia (maps, brochures, ticket stubs, postcards, etc.)
Summer-themed stickers
Easy-Stick Glitter Shapes , Peel & Stick Jewels and other collage items
Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (variety of colors) - optional
Crinkle-Cut Craft Scissors Center - optional

Before you begin:

About a week before beginning this project, invite students to collect and bring in copies of photos and other memorabilia from summer activities. Explain to them that they will be making a folder of their summer memories to share and enjoy.

Directions

Give each student a Scrapbook Title template and glue. Allow students to choose a pocket folder.
Have students color and glue the Scrapbook Title template onto the front cover of their folders.
Invite students to select summer photos and memorabilia from their collections and glue them onto the front, inside and back of the pocket folder in a collage display.
If you are using construction paper, have students cut the edges into fun shapes with the craft scissors. Show them how to glue the paper behind the photos to make them stand out.
Set out the collage materials and stickers. Invite students to decorate their folders by gluing or sticking these on.
Have students add brochures or maps to their folders by tucking them inside the pockets.
Encourage students to write captions beneath the photos to explain the picture and where it was taken. (Younger students can dictate these for you to write.)
Put the completed summer folders on display in a classroom center. Invite students to browse through them during free time!
