This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 2nd grade / 3 - 7 years

You will need:

Cardboard paper towel tube
Collage materials
Fabric & yarn scraps
Best-Buy Scissors
Best-Buy School Glue
Lakeshore Fully Washable Liquid Tempera Paint - 1 Pint
Classroom Paintbrushes - Set of 24
Yarn
Hole punch
Craft tape

Directions for Spyglass

Glue fabric around the outside of an empty paper towel tube.
Have children use collage materials to decorate the spyglass.

Directions for Binoculars

Invite children to paint a paper towel tube and cut it in half after it dries.
Wrap craft tape around the tubes to attach the two sides together.
Have children add collage materials to decorate the binoculars.
Punch a hole in each outside edge and tie yarn through the holes to make a handy carrying strap.

Take children outside to peek at insects, plants and more with their spyglass or binoculars!
