|
Children make and decorate enchanting mermaids and mermen...complete with colorful seashell shirts!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten & up / 5 years &
up
You will need:
Directions
- Use the Tail Template to trace the bottom half of your sea creature on a piece of white construction paper. Cut out the template along the solid lines first. Then, cut along the dotted lines to create the spiral.
- Paint one side of the tail using the Texture Brushes. Let dry. Then, paint the opposite side.
- While your tail is drying, take a person shape and cut it in half. Note: Only the upper part of the body will be used for this project. Punch a hole at the top of the head and string with a yarn lace. This will be used to display the creature once its completed.
- Decorate the body by adding facial features and sea shell shirts. Glue on Wiggly Eyes and yarn for hair; draw in any additional features (i.e. eyelashes, eyebrows, noses, etc.). Dress your creature by gluing on seashells to make a top; use the Flexible Shapes for additional fun textures and shapes.
- Glue the tail to the back side of the body.
- Once dry, hang up to display!
