Paper Pumpkin Centerpiece

This easy-to-make craft is sure to add a festive touch to students’ homes!
This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 3rd grade / 3 - 8 years
You will need:
- Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (orange, brown and bright green)
- Paper towel tubes
- Tape
- Newspaper (optional)
- Washable Glitter Tempera
- Natural-Bristle Paintbrushes - 10-Color Set
- Scissors
Preparation
- Cut the orange construction paper into strips that are 1 inch wide and 12 inches long. (Each student will need 10 strips.) Also cut out a brown stem and a green leaf for each student.
- Cut the paper towel tubes into thirds. Then tape a piece of orange construction paper around each tube.

Directions
- Provide students with newspaper to protect their workspace. Lay 10 strips of orange paper in front of each student.
- Have students paint one side of each strip with orange glitter paint. Allow the strips to dry completely.
- Give each student a paper towel tube covered with orange paper. Have students take their orange strips and tape one end of each strip to the inside edge of the tube. (Remind students to position their strips so that the painted side will face out when their pumpkins are complete.)
- Have students tape the other end of each strip to the opposite end of the tube. The strips should form a rounded pumpkin shape.
- Give each student a green leaf and brown stem. Instruct students to attach these to the top of the pumpkin by taping them to the inside of the tube.
- Encourage students to take home their completed pumpkin centerpieces to add a festive fall touch to their tables!
