Personalized Pencil Toppers
|
Get your students excited about writing with these fun-to-make pencil toppers!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 3rd grade / 5 - 8 years
You will need:
Directions
- Provide each student with a pencil (jumbo-sized or standard #2) and explain that they will be making Personalized Pencil Toppers by stringing letter beads to spell their names!
- Encourage students to search through the collection of Alphabet Collage Beads to find letters to spell out their names. Then have them select a few Painted Wooden Beads or Beads From Around the World to add a decorative color pattern.
- Have students cut a length of string that is long enough to extend about three inches beyond the beads after the string is thread through the beads they are using.
- Then, instruct them to knot one end of the string and thread the beads onto the string. If using the Alphabet Beads students should take care to thread the alphabet letters in the correct order to spell their names.
- Finally, instruct students to wrap the loose end of the string around the pencil just beneath the eraser. Then, wrap tightly with craft tape to secure the string to the pencil.
