Commemorate Presidents’ Day with these easy-to-make patriotic desktop pencil holders!

This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 3rd grade / 4 - 8 years

You will need:

Clean, empty soup can with label removed
Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (red, white, or blue cut into 3.5" x 8.5" strips)
Patriotic Symbols Template
Best-Buy Crayons or Washable Fine-Tip Markers - Class Pack
Lakeshore Glitter Glue Writers or Glitter Pack - Set of 12
Safety Scissors
Help-Yourself Glue Tubes

Note:

Directions

Give each student a soup can. Let each child choose a red, white, or blue construction paper strip to wrap around her can.
Provide each student with a Patriotic Symbols Template. Invite them to color and/or decorate with glitter and cut out the symbols they want to use.
Encourage students to glue the symbols onto the outside of their soup cans. Once the glue is dry, their patriotic pencil holder is ready to use!
