Children will have a blast ringing in the New Year with this colorful rocket!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten & up / 5 years & up
You will need:
Directions
- Cut 1 1/2" x 12" strips of multicolored tissue paper.
- Starting from the right and working left, glue strips to the bottom of the non-sticky side of a foam sheet, being sure to leave the last 1" uncovered.
- Peel off the protective layer from the foam sheet. Roll the foam sheet (sticky side out) over until the two sides overlap by 1". Secure by stapling at the bottom, in the middle (as close as possible), and at the top.
- With a crayon, write “2013” on a 1 1/2" x 5" piece of construction paper. Glue lengthwise onto the body of the rocket.
- Decorate the body of the rocket with Easy-Stick Glitter Shapes and acrylic gemstones.
- Sprinkle glitter over exposed areas of the rocket.
- Trace the Cone Template onto a sheet of construction paper and then cut it out. Roll into a cone and secure with glue. Glue the base of the cone to the inside of the rocket.
- Twist together two pipe stems (should have the look of a candy cane) and glue to the top rim of the rocket between the cone and body.
- Glue on the pom-pom at the top of the cone for the final touch.
