Recycled Magazine Holder

Recycle cereal or detergent boxes into useful magazine holders!
This activity is appropriate for:
1st - 3rd grade / 6 - 8 years
You will need:
- Safety Scissors
- All-Purpose Paintbrush Assortment - Set of 30
- Help-Yourself Glue Tubes
- Washable Broad-Tip Markers - Student Pack
- Empty cereal box or detergent box (larger than a magazine)
- Ruler
- Pen or pencil
- Acrylic paint
- Old magazines, gift wrap, scratch paper, felt stickers (optional)
Directions
- On the side of the box, mark a line four inches from the bottom.
- With a ruler, draw a diagonal line from the mark to the top opposite corner of the front of the box. Repeat on the back of the box.
- Draw a line connecting the two diagonal lines across the other side of the box.
- Cut off the top portion of the box along the lines you drew.
- Paint the entire outside of the box. You may need two coats to cover it completely. Let dry.
- Decorate your box. You can use markers to draw pictures; glue on magazine pictures, scratch paper shapes, gift wrap remnants or felt shapes; or attach stickers.
- Use your box to store all your favorite magazines!
