Put a St. Patrick’s Day twist on sight-word fun with this easy-to-play interactive game!
This activity is appropriate for:
pre-k – 1st grade / 4 – 6 years
You will need:
Directions
- Pair each student with a partner to play the game and give each pair a Lucky Day game board.
- Give each player a leprechaun to color, cut out and use as a game marker.
- Give each pair of students a set of shamrock sight-word cards.
- Explain to students that the object of the game is to follow the path of lucky golden horseshoes to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
- Have student pairs place the shamrock sight-word cards facedown in a deck. Then have them take turns selecting a card and reading the sight-word.
- If a player reads the word correctly, he advances his leprechaun marker to the next horseshoe. If not, he remains in place.
- The partner whose leprechaun marker reaches the pot of gold first wins!
