Celebrate National Ice Cream Month—and practice patterning—with this delicious dairy display!
This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 2nd grade / 4 - 7 years
You will need:
Directions
- Print out the Ice cream cone template. Reproduce the ice cream scoops onto white, pink and green construction paper to represent vanilla, strawberry and mint flavors. Then reproduce the ice cream cone onto brown construction paper.
- Give each student an ice cream cone template and a 12" x 18" sheet of construction paper. Prompt students to cut out the cone and glue it to the bottom of the large sheet. Make sure they leave plenty of room to add the ice cream scoops!
- Invite students to cut out ice cream scoops in two or three colors and arrange them in a pattern (such as pink, green, pink, green, pink, green or white, pink, green, white, pink, green). Have them glue their scoops above the cone.
- Display the finished artwork on a bulletin board titled “Ice Cream Patterns!”
