Hanging Holiday Symbols
|
These aluminum crafts can be adapted for any holiday celebration!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 2nd grade / 5 - 7 years
You will need:
- Disposable aluminum pie plate
- Best-Buy Scissors
- Marker
- Pen
- Hole punch
- Yarn or string
- Holiday Symbols Template
Directions
- Download and print out a copy of the Holiday Symbols Template. Have students cut out the symbol they desire and trace around it to reproduce that symbol onto the flat surface of a disposable aluminum pie plate.
- Cut out the symbol from the pie tin using durable scissors. (Note: Younger students may need more assistance with this step, as it is slightly more difficult to cut through the aluminum plate than paper.)
- Place the symbol on top of a paper towel. Use the pointed tip of a pen to tap indentions into the surface of the tin shape for a decorative hammered effect.
- Punch a hole near the top of the symbol and thread a string through the hole. Then encourage students to hang it up in their houses to decorate for the holidays!
