Count down the days until Halloween with a spooky, kooky mobile calendar you can hang anywhere!

This activity is appropriate for:
preschool & up / 3 years & up

You will need:

Pumpkin Template
Construction Paper - 9" x 12" - Black
Pom-Poms
Fancy Pipe Stems - Class Set
Lakeshore Jumbo Glitter Painters - 12-Bottle Set
Wiggly Eyes
Best-Buy School Glue
Crayons or markers

Directions

Print and cut out the Pumpkin Template, five for each child. Have kids color the pumpkins.
Cut the black construction paper into 12" x 4.5" strips (simply cut the 12" x 9" pieces in half). Cut enough strips for each child to have one. Punch five holes along one of the 12" long edges. Then, punch one hole at the top-center of the opposite 12" edge.
Decorate a strip with fun collage materials. Note: The top of the craft is the side with the single hole punch, so decorate accordingly.
Have kids write numbers 1-5 on five pumpkins. (For younger children, write the numbers on the pumpkins for them.)
Take five pipe stems, and attach a pumpkin to one end of each. Then, attach the available ends of each pipe stem onto one of the available five pre-punched holes. Be sure to attach the pumpkins in reverse order (5 to 1) since this is a countdown calendar.
Attach one more pipe stem to the top, pre-punched hole.
Let the countdown begin!
