Smiles are in bloom—with this inventive craft that makes a great gift!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 3rd grade / 5 - 8 years
You will need:
- Styrofoam cup or small, unglazed terra-cotta flowerpot
- Pipe Stems
- Markers, Lakeshore Standard Crayon Packs or colored pencils
- Foam Sheets
- Child’s photo
- Floral foam
- Florist’s moss (optional)
- Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (optional)
- Fiskars Classroom Scissors
- Help-Yourself Glue Tubes
Directions
- Cut two pieces of foam in the shape of a flower. Cut a hole in the center of one flower, large enough for the photo to show through when placed.
- Glue the two foam pieces together, with the photo and a green pipe stem sandwiched in between them.
- Cut a piece of floral foam to fit inside your cup or flowerpot. You can put florist’s moss on top, if desired.
- Poke the pipe stem into the floral foam.
- Create a label for your flowerpot from construction paper. Draw on it with markers, crayons or colored pencils, and then cut it out.
- Glue the label to the side of your flowerpot.
- Once the glue dries, your flowerpot is ready to give to someone special!
