|
This engaging activity will pique students’ interest while building their research skills at the same time!
This activity is appropriate for:
1st - 5th grade / 6 - 10 years
You will need:
- Access to a computer (with Internet) and/or access to a library
- Famous Person Profile Sheet
- Pen or pencil
- Lakeshore Jumbo Colored Pencils and/or People Colors Jumbo Pencils
Directions
- Help your students select a famous person of interest to research. (Hint: You may want to suggest a person according to your students’ interests. For example, if a student plays soccer, have her research a famous soccer player. Or, if a student shows an interest in art, have him read about a famous artist.)
- Encourage your students to use the Internet to find out more information about the person they selected. Or, help them find a few books at the school library about that person.
- Have your students draw and color a picture of their famous person in the space provided on the Famous Person Profile sheet.
- Instruct your students to complete the Famous Person Profile sheet by filling in information that they have discovered about the famous person they have selected. (For a younger student, you may want to ask the questions and read through the material aloud with her. Then, complete the Famous Person Profile sheet together by having the student dictate her responses to you as you write.)
