Color-Mixing Leaves

Discover the magic of color mixing as you create vibrant autumn leaves!
This activity is appropriate for:
preschool - 3rd grade / 3 - 8 years
You will need:
- Ice cube tray or muffin tin
- Food coloring
- Super-Safe Eyedroppers
- Coffee filters (large, basket style)
- Best-Buy Scissors
- Newspaper
Directions
- Cut leaf shapes out of the coffee filters. (Note: you can make your leaves symmetrical by folding the filter in half before cutting.)
- Fill a few sections of the ice tray or muffin tin with water. Add a drop or two of food coloring to each section to create colored water.
- Tear the newspaper into strips. Lay your leaves out on newspaper or paper plates.
- Use the eyedropper to drip different colors of water onto the leaves. Watch what happens when the colors start to spread and mix with each other!
