Character Masks
|
These creative masks really help students get into character!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 2nd grade / 5 - 7 years
You will need:
- Paper plates (one for each student)
- Washable Broad-Tip Markers - Class Pack or Lakeshore Crayon Packs
- Yarn or string
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Colored Feathers – Class Pack
- Collage Buttons
- Lakeshore Jumbo Glue Sticks
- Safety Scissors
- Tape
Directions
- Give each student a paper plate and Jumbo Craft Stick.
- Have students choose a character from a story you are reading in class and decorate their plate to represent that character. Encourage students to use different materials provided to add colorful details.
- Help students cut eye holes and attach their finished plates to the top of a craft stick with tape to create a character mask.
- Invite students to bring their masks with them as they sit on the floor in front of you. Then, reread the story together and have students take turns using their character masks to reenact the story.
