Falling Autumn Leaves
|
Capture the vibrant colors of fall and put them on display—inside your classroom!
This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 3rd grade / 5 - 8 years
You will need:
- Art Tissue Paper (in fall colors: orange, yellow, brown, red)
- Clear Adhesive Rolls
- Oak Leaf Template
- Fiskars Classroom Scissors
- Markers
- Tape
- Hole punch
- String or fishing wire
Directions
- Tape a large sheet of clear adhesive paper, sticky-side up, to each student’s desk.
- Instruct students to cover the entire surface of the adhesive paper by tearing small pieces of tissue paper and sticking them onto the paper. (Encourage students to use a variety of fall colors and overlap the pieces on the paper so that all of the “clear” parts are covered.)
- Once the sheet is completely covered with tissue paper pieces, help students press a second sheet of clear adhesive paper directly on top, sticky-side down.
- Have students place the leaf template on top of the adhesive paper. Then, trace with a marker and cut out the leaf shape from the adhesive paper. (Note that younger students might need more help with this step.)
- Punch a hole in the stem of each finished leaf and tie a string or wire through the hole. Then, hang all the leaves from the ceiling of your classroom to create a beautiful fall display!
