I Know My Address
|
As children build these cute replica homes, they get valuable practice learning their addresses!
This activity is appropriate for:
pre-k - 3rd grade / 4 - 8 years
You will need:
- Empty cereal boxes or milk cartons
-
Construction Paper - 9" x 12"
or
Lakeshore Fully Washable Liquid Tempera - Pints - Crayons, markers or colored pencils
- Craft Sticks
- Paper towel tubes
- Best-Buy School Glue or tape
Directions
- Have students make a model of their house or apartment building. Encourage students to start by painting or covering an empty box or milk carton with construction paper. If they are using paint, set aside and allow it to dry completely.
- Encourage students to use paint or construction paper to create doors & windows. Have them paint or write the street number on their model.
- Students can make a chimney out of a paper towel tube. First, have students paint the tube the color they want, and then set it aside to dry. When it’s dry, they can glue (or tape) it to the top of the model.
- Have students write the name of their street on a small piece of construction paper, then glue it to a craft stick to make a street sign.
- Tell students they can place the model and street sign in their room at home to help remind them of their address.
