In recent years, Lakeshore has had the unique opportunity to partner with outstanding organizations across the country to create customized materials that meet specific educational needs. In developing materials that target such objectives as early brain development, obesity prevention and school-readiness skills, we’ve been honored to help these organizations find practical solutions that are easily and successfully implemented.

Cardboard Challenge
Lakeshore partnered with the Imagination Foundation and the National Head Start Association to participate in the Global Cardboard Challenge, engaging 1,000 Head Start centers—and the 30,000 children they serve—in STEM and creative play. The mission of the Imagination Foundation is to find, foster and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in children around the world. The National Head Start Association is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization committed to the belief that every child has the ability to succeed in life.
Choosy Kids®
CHOOSY stands for “Choose Healthy Options Often and Start Young®.” The mission of Choosy Kids is to encourage young children to make healthy decisions about nutrition, form healthy habits and adopt active lifestyles. Lakeshore worked in partnership with Choosy’s Dr. Linda Carson—an expert in the field of children’s motor development and obesity prevention—to create the Be Choosy Be Healthy® Activity Kit as well as the Choosy Dental Health Activity Kit.
Created by educators at the Children’s Home Society of Washington, the PlayBright Learning System is designed to boost brain development and promote early learning—
through play! Lakeshore partnered with PlayBright to develop the PlayBright Activity Kits, which help guide caregivers through each stage of a child’s early development.
Special Education Administrators of County Offices (SEACO) advocates for programs and services that meet the needs of all students and their families…and strives to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Together with SEACO, Lakeshore created the SEACO Curriculum Guide, which aligns functional skills to core content standards, provides sample goals and observable behaviors, and much more. The California Association for the Education of Young Children strives to help children reach their full potential by advancing excellence throughout the early care and education profession. Lakeshore worked in collaboration with the CAEYC to create the Outdoor Classroom Learning Kit, which integrates nature exploration into five key subject areas—from math to music.
Steps to Success™ (Riverside COE)
The Riverside County Office of Education is a collaborative organization that works to ensure the success of all students in Riverside County, California. Lakeshore helped the Riverside County Office of Education create the Steps to Success Kit, a standards-based classroom system that helps prepare students for the California Alternate Performance Assessment. Project CHILD®/Institute for School Innovation
Project CHILD (Changing How Instruction for Learning is Delivered) is a research-based learning system that focuses on reading, writing and mathematics by forming “teaching clusters” that work with the same students for three-year periods. They recently used Lakeshore products to support charter schools by developing specialized learning kits for grades K–2 and grades 3–5.
