Handmade Holiday Cards

Last year, my kids began making Thanksgiving cards for seniors in a nearby assisted living facility. My eight-year-old daughter takes great pride in writing her own greetings, and my five-year-old daughter draws pictures and dictates messages for me to write on the cards before she prints her own name at the bottom. Then, the day before Thanksgiving, we stop by and hand-deliver the cards to some of the residents. Watching my kids’ faces light up as the recipients “ooh” and “aah” over their handmade cards is completely heartwarming. Plus, it puts everyone—including my children—in a great mood! In fact, they have so much fun, this year my kids are going to invite their friends to join us—so there will be even more cards to share!
