Famous Person Profile |
This engaging activity will pique your child’s interest while building her research skills—at the same time!
This activity is appropriate for:
1st - 5th grade / 6 - 10 years
You will need:
- Access to a computer (with Internet) and/or access to a library
- Famous Person Profile sheet
- Pen or pencil
- Lakeshore Jumbo Colored Pencils and/or People Colors Jumbo Pencils
Directions
- Help your child select a famous person of interest to research. (Hint: You may want to suggest a person according to your child’s interests. For example, if your child plays soccer, have her research a famous soccer player. Or, if your child shows an interest in art, have him read about a famous artist.)
- Encourage your child to use the Internet to find out more information about the person he selected. Or, help him find a few books at the library about that person.
- Have your child draw and color a picture of their famous person in the space provided on the Famous Person Profile sheet.
- Instruct your child to complete the Famous Person Profile sheet by filling in information that he has discovered about the famous person he has selected. (For a younger child, you may want to ask the questions and read through the material aloud with him. Then, complete the Famous Person Profile sheet together by having your child dictate his responses to you as you write.)
