Kids make their own patriotic hat and celebrate the Fourth of July in style!

This activity is appropriate for:
1st - 3rd grade / 6 - 8 years

You will need:

Directions

  1. Prepare by cutting blue construction paper into 8" x 9" rectangles. Cut red construction paper into 1" x 9" strips.
  2. Next, give each child one sheet of blue construction paper and several strips of red construction paper. Encourage children to glue the red strips onto the blue construction paper to create the hat.
  3. Stamp out stars across a sentence strip using silver glitter paint and a star stamp. Glue this strip to the hat. Using another strip, adjust it so that it is long enough to fit around the child’s head, then secure it with craft tape to create the brim of the hat.
  4. Just glue the hat to the brim…and kids are ready to wear their stars and stripes!
