Kids create fun & festive table decorations to celebrate the fall season!

This activity is appropriate for:
kindergarten - 3rd grade / 5 - 8 years

You will need:

Directions

  1. Measure out a sheet of white paper to fit the length of your table (this will be your table runner). Encourage children to decorate the table runner using turkey or leaf sponge painters and red, yellow, orange, and brown tempera paints.
  2. To make the napkin rings, cut a strip of fall leaf border into 3" pieces. Next, take each piece and tape the ends together with craft tape to make your napkin ring. Decorate your napkin ring by gluing on a seasonal calendar cutout shape.
  3. To make a place mat, invite children to paint the palm of one of their hands brown and each finger a different color using tempera paints.
  4. Next, help kids stamp their hands onto a sheet of construction paper.
  5. Using a marker, encourage children to turn her handprint into a turkey by drawing facial features on the thumb print and legs that stick out of the palm of the hand print.
  6. Now, you’re ready to sit down at the table and enjoy a fun & festive Thanksgiving meal!
