counting on corn
Children practice counting…as they create a delightful autumn decoration!
This activity is appropriate for:
pre-k - 1st grade / 4 - 6 years
You will need:
- Construction Paper - 9" x 12" (Yellow & Green)
- Popped popcorn
- Best-Buy Scissors
- Best-Buy School Glue
- Craft Sticks
Directions
- To create the corn husk base, cut a large oval out of yellow construction paper.
- Cut out two green leaves, and glue one to each side of the husk behind the oval.
- Glue the back of the corn husk onto a large craft stick. Set aside to dry.
- Glue kernels of popped corn onto the yellow husk. Count each one as you glue it on to see how many kernels you can fit!
- For a larger decoration, repeat the process and make two more husks!
